Former Uganda Cranes midfielder Tonny Mawejje has been appointed as the top coach of College soccer league champions Muteesa I Royal College.
Muteesa I Royal College triumphed to the UFL title final season after edging YMCA 1-0 within the remaining performed at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo in Could.
Mawejje was confirmed as the brand new head coach of the Royal Lions on the College premises in Kilumba, Masaka.
“Welcome Tonny Mawejje as our new head coach. A real legend of the sport, bringing a wealth of expertise, ardour, and tactical brilliance to guide the squad into this thrilling new chapter,” reads a part of the assertion from the College.
The previous Cranes midfielder will substitute George William Ssengabi, who guided the Masaka primarily based establishment to their maiden College Soccer League title.
Since his retirement in 2022, Mawejje has already labored at a number of golf equipment, together with Wakiso Giants, Kampala Queens and St. Noa Women.
He’ll work with former Maroons, SC Villa and Masaka LC goalkeeper Ashadu Bugembe because the goalkeeping coach at Muteesa I Royal College.
